Marist first raced in a morning Time Trial where the boat race in single file format for time to determine seeding for the races to come. Marist placed 28th of 35 crews in that race with a time of 6:30.7. This seeded Marist into the afternoon D/E/F semi finals which determined which of the final races Marist would progress to. The Red Foxes came out strong in the semi final with a huge start putting them ahead immediately in the early part of the race and gradually moving out to a commanding position ahead of LaSalle, Oklahoma City, Williams, Trinity, and RIT who were in that race. Marist fought off repeated charges by OKC and LaSalle and eventually came down to a tight sprint finish with Marist just outpacing LaSalle for 1st in 6:38.5 over their 6:38.8 (about half a deck). With this race performance Marist obtained a spot in the D level final for the regatta which will determine the 19th-24th positions in their event. Marist will race at 10:50am tomorrow in this final. In their final with them will be Northeastern, LaSalle, Stanford, Cornell, and Adrian.

COACH'S COMMENTS:
We had a tough start this morning in the Time Trial and even though the crew felt that they raced well we felt that we could do better and that we didn't show all our speed in the Time Trial event. This afternoon the guys came out swinging for the hills in the early part of the race and then showed the grit needed to see through a great start to the finish line. It was a really great race to watch and the boat is excited to see what we can do tomorrow in the D Final. Go Red Foxes!!! Â
