SPARKS, Md. – Marist men's lacrosse standout first-year long stick midfielder
Michael Cassano has been announced as one of the 77 players invited to a three-day tryout for the 2025 U.S. Men's U20 National Team. The tryout will be held at USA Lacrosse headquarters from June 28-30.
"Our entire program is thrilled for Michael's opportunity to compete with the nation's best players this weekend as he looks to earn a selection to the United States U20 team," Marist men's lacrosse Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson said. "This recognition comes as a result of his hard work and intense commitment to be the best, it is not a surprise to those within our program that were able to witness this passion during his freshman year at Marist. The entire Marist lacrosse family is rooting for Michael as he embarks on this amazing challenge to represent the United States."
The tryouts are the first step towards finalizing the roster representing the nited States in the World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship next summer in Seoguipo, South Korea on Jeju Island from July 18-27, 2025. The U.S. has won each of the previous nine junior men's world championships conducted, most recently in 2022.
As a freshman this past season, Cassano picked up 26 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers to go along with three goals en route to earning All-MAAC Second Team and Rookie Team honors.
