POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Marist head men's lacrosse coach Dave Scarcello has announced an addition to his coaching staff.
Tyler Perrelle will serve as the Red Foxes' assistant coach.
"We are incredibly fortunate to have Tyler rejoining us at Marist," Scarcello said. "Not only was his offensive knowledge a key factor in our team's ability to compete nationally, but he also brings an attitude that aligns with the standard built for Marist Lacrosse. I'm very excited for our players to learn from Tyler and his unique perspective of the game."
Perrelle rejoins the Marist staff after serving on the Binghamton men's lacrosse staff since September 2021. A former Bearcat captain, Perrelle came from Marist, where he had served as an assistant on the Red Foxes staff since 2019.
Perrelle played a key role in Binghamton's nine-win 2023 campaign that ended with another postseason appearance. Perrelle also helped develop two All-Americans, Thomas Greenblatt and Kevin Winkoff. Â
Perrelle graduated from Binghamton in 2013 with a degree in human development after a record-setting career. He tallied a school-record 55 career assists and his 110 career points from the midfield ranks second all-time at Binghamton. Perrelle was an America East All-Rookie (2010) and All-Championship (2011) selection and was team MVP in 2012. He was on the 2013 Preseason Tewaaraton Award Watchlist and played in 56 career games, fourth-most in program history.Â
Perrelle made his coaching debut at Marywood University, where he served as head coach for four years. There, Perrelle led the Pacers to a pair of conference runner-up finishes and a trip to the ECAC semifinals in 2015. Marywood had a conference win percentage of 71 percent during his tenure - the highest in the history of the Colonial States Athletics Conference.Â
Perrelle then spent two years as an assistant at Division II University of Tampa, where he coached five All-Americans, a conference player of the year, and seven all-conference players. In 2019, Tampa won its sixth straight Sunshine State Conference title, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals, and earned a No. 8 national ranking. He coached the team's offense, which produced 309 goals (14.7/game), third-most in the nation.Â
At Marist, Perrelle helped guide the Red Foxes through two COVID-affected seasons. In the shortened 2020 season, two of the team's wins came against America East squads and the other was a win over ninth-ranked Army - the highest-ranked team Marist has beaten in program history. The 2021 Marist squad went 3-1 in an abbreviated season and reached the MAAC quarterfinals. Â
