VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania – The Marist volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by Rhode Island on Friday evening to kick off the Wildcat Challenge inside the Jake Nevin Field House.
Taylor Miller led the Red Foxes with a career-high 16 kills while
Alyssa White put up a season-high 10 kills.
Sara Dasic collected season-highs in kills with eight and digs with 12.
This result marks Marist's ninth straight loss, marking a 0-9 record, while Rhode Island improved to 5-6.

SET ONE (25-18 RI)
The Rams led from the onset, taking the first three points. Though Marist would go on to take four of the next six points, they were unable to chase down their opponents eventually going on to lose the set, 25-18.
SET TWO (25-20 MAR)
The Red Foxes started hot in the second set with kills from
Taylor Miller,
Sarah Bumstead and
Jamison White, giving Marist a 3-0 lead. The Rams went on to battle back within one point at 16-15. The Red Foxes would take a timeout and come out of it with a four-point lead, one that the Red Foxes maintained for the remainder of the set, taking it 25-20.
SET THREE (25-21 RI)
Marist had another strong start in the third frame, taking seven of the first nine points to put the score at 7-2. A timeout by the Rams put a stop to Marist's momentum, with Rhode Island eventually tying the set at 15-15. Despite the Red Foxes best efforts to reclaim their lead, they were unable to, falling 25-21.
SET FOUR (25-18 RI)
The fourth set was tightly contested with both teams locked up at 12-12 halfway through the frame. Both teams went back and forth, scoring points before the Rams would eventually go on a four-point streak to put the score at 20-15. Though the Red Foxes battled, they were eventually felled by the Rams 25-18.
