POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist head women's soccer coach
Nicole Pacapelli is set to be inducted into the West Haven High School Hall of Fame. The ceremony will occur on Saturday, November 23 at Amarante's Sea Cliff in New Haven.
The first ever Div. 1 head coach in any sport to graduate from West Haven High School, Pacapelli is one of eight members of the 2024 class that will push the number of inductees to 211 members in the prestigious club since its start two decades ago.
"I am extremely humbled and honored to be recognized as an inductee into such a prestigious athletic Hall of Fame club," Pacapelli said. "My high school and hometown community have always shown me an incredible amount of support throughout my playing and coaching career and I have the greatest pride for them. I am always grateful for the sport that has touched every aspect of my life, giving me the opportunities and tools to grow as a person and coach; allowing me to be the leader and role model that I strive to be for my players today here at Marist."
Pacapelli is a 2010 graduate and was a four-sport athlete at West Haven High. As a four-year varsity letter winner and team captain for soccer, Pacapelli was a two-time All-SCC Quinnipiac Division honoree, a two-time New Haven Register All-Area honoree, and a Connecticut High School Coaches All-State selection.
Pacapelli was a team captain and three-year letter winner in basketball, and a two-year letter winner in track, and she ended her high school sports career lettering in lacrosse.
Pacapelli played one year of collegiate soccer at Stonehill College, before transferring to the University of New Haven. During her three-year career at New Haven, Pacapelli was a two-year captain and helped lead the program to 31 wins as she started all 55 games of her career. Pacapelli capped off her career with an All-Northeast-10 Conference selection, an All-East-Region Selection, and an All-New England Selection.
Pacapelli began her collegiate coaching career with the Chargers as their assistant coach upon her graduation in 2014. Pacapelli was able to pursue a full-time position as a Division I assistant coach in January 2020 at Binghamton University. In her three seasons, the Bearcats went 14-5-3 (.705) in America East play and 23-15-8 (.587) overall. Binghamton won a share of its divisional title in the Spring of 2021, won the America East regular-season championship in 2022, and reached the conference's championship games both seasons.
After Pacapelli's successful three-year stint as an assistant coach, In January of 2023, Pacapelli was named the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Marist College in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference.
