WEST POINT, New York- The Marist women's swim and dive team began their 2024-25 season against Army and Fordham, Friday evening. The Red Foxes had impressive swims at their first meet of the season.
"It was great to get some early racing in. Across the board, I was proud of how everyone competed, and we took things away that we will continue to improve on that will help us throughout the year."
- April Avila dominated the sixth event for the Red Foxes in the 50-yard breaststroke. The sophomore finished second overall out of 12 swimmers with a speedy time of 29.62.
- The first-place swimmer finished with a time of 28.93 from Fordham.
- Avila once again showed her speed in the 100-yard breaststroke in the meet. Avila swam to a second-place finish in the meet with a time of 1:04.69.
- In the fourth event of the meet, Lauren Castellani posted an impressive swim in the 50-yard backstroke. Castellani placed fifth in the race, the highest finish for a Red Fox, with a time of 27.82.
- In Rae Dodson's first meet as a Red Fox, she finished fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke. The time of 30.55 gave Dodson the second-best finish for the Red Foxes, only a second behind Avila.
- Charlotte Lepis, Anna Hoskovec, and Maddie Healey finished with the fourth fastest time in the 600-yard freestyle relay. The Red Foxes relay team finished with a time of 5:54.98.
- The Red Foxes compete in their first home meet against Vermont.
- The women's meet is slated for Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.z
