Red Foxes Prepped for Gotham Cup Friday

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Marist men's and women's track & field teams travel to Staten Island, New York for the NYC Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for their third meet of the season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Marist track and field teams raced at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invite for their second meet of the season on Jan. 10, 2025.
  • On the women's side, Parker O'Brien earned the Red Foxes their highest finish of the day with a third-place finish in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:09.34.
  • Julia Zydanowicz also earned a top 10 finish in the 1-mile run, placing 8th with a time of 5:18.54.
  • Julia Kropo secured the third and final top ten finish of the day for the women in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:20.48.
  • As for the men, Ryan Trocolar came in third place in the 500 Meter Dash with a PR time of 1:05.23.
  • Amari Mathis also gained a podium finish, with a third-place time of 6.95 in the 60-meter dash.
  • Three new personal bests were secured in the mile run with Matthew Ferrari (4:23.05) earning sixth place, Miles Chamberlain (4:24.67) earning 12th and Sean Wilson (4:24.95) finishing in 13th.
WOMEN'S HISTORY AT Gotham CUP
  • The last time the Marist women's track team ran at the NYC Gotham Cup was Jan. 19, 2024
  • Parker O'Brien led the way with a third-place finish in the 800-meter dash as she set a new personal best time of 2:17.48
  • Kayla Hawkins (2:20.18, 8th) gave the Red Foxes two top 10 finishers in that race.
  • Kate Beebe (10th) gave Marist a top-10 finisher in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.24.
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT AT GOTHAM CUP
  • The last time the Marist men's track team ran at the NYC Gotham Cup was Jan. 19, 2024.
  • Amari Mathis (6.98, 4th) paced the Red Foxes with a top five finish in the 60-meter dash.
  • Jack Dovaras finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run with a new personal best time of 15:48.74.
  • Matthew Ferreri (1:58.37, 9th) also secured a new personal best and gave the Red Foxes a top-10 finish in the 800-meter run.
UP NEXT
  • The teams will be back in action from Friday Jan. 24th to Saturday Jan. 25th, when they will compete at the Dr. Sanders Scorcher.
  • The event will take place at the Armory.
