Football Drops Non-League Game at Penn

DeCaro Connects with Correa for Touchdown, Robinson Breaks Up Two Passes

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – The Marist University football team dropped a non-league game to Ivy League foe Penn by a score of 28-9 at historic Franklin Field on Friday night.
 
Summary
  • Marist scored on the game's opening drive, as Samer Layous connected on a 42-yard field goal. This capped an 11-play, 51-yard drive in 7:05.
  • Penn responded on the ensuing next drive with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Liam O'Brien to Jared Richardson. The Quakers maintained their 7-3 lead after 15 minutes of play.
  • On Penn's next drive, Braylen Ricks and Jordan Mendoza teamed up for a one-yard tackle for loss on a fourth-and-one from the Marist 23.
  • O'Brien's 21-yard rushing touchdown gave Penn a 14-3 lead with 5:49 left in the second quarter. Penn maintained its 11-point lead at halftime.

  • Marist responded on its next drive as on a double pass, Jeremy DeCaro threw a 28-yard touchdown to Santino Correa. This brought the Red Foxes to within 21-9 at the 10:28 mark and capped a three-play, 65-yard drive.
  • Juice Stokes scored from one yard out, which put Penn up 28-9 with 3:03 left.

  • Will O'Dell completed 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards, and he led Marist with 55 rushing yards.

  • This was the first time Marist has faced Penn in program history.
