NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Behind a two-goal performance from senior midfielder
Olivia Lindsay, Marist women's soccer earned a 3–2 road victory over Merrimack on Saturday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field.
With the win, the Red Foxes improved to 5-5-4 overall and 4-0-4 in MAAC play, extending their unbeaten streak in conference action to eight matches.
Merrimack struck first in the 17th minute, capitalizing on a free kick to take an early 1–0 lead. The Red Foxes answered just before halftime when
Julia Oliveira found the back of the net in the 45th minute, leveling the match at one apiece heading into the break.
Marist came out firing in the second half, and Lindsay took control of the match. The midfielder scored her first goal in the 55th minute off an assist from
Anna Maggi, then doubled the lead less than five minutes later when
Sophia Dorsey set her up for her second tally of the day, making it 3–1.
Merrimack cut the deficit to one in the 80th minute, but goalkeeper
Maddy Catalanotti and the Marist defense held strong to secure the victory. Catalanotti finished with two saves in 90 minutes of action.
The Red Foxes returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15, when Marist travels to take on Manhattan in MAAC play. The match is set for a 3 PM start on ESPN+.
