BUFFALO, New York – The Marist women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match on Friday evening at the Koessler Athletic Center, falling to Canisius in four sets (25-27, 13-25, 25-18, 17-25). The Red Foxes now sit at 7-14 overall and 5-4 in MAAC play.
Despite a strong third set showing, Marist couldn't overcome Canisius' balanced attack and efficient serving. The Golden Griffins hit .180 for the match and recorded 12.0 total team blocks, while Marist was held to a .121 hitting percentage and 8.0 blocks.
Top Performers:
Marist's best stretch came in the third set, where they hit .294 and out-blocked Canisius 2.0 to 1.0. However, Canisius responded in the fourth with a .192 hitting clip and closed out the match with a 25-17 win.
The Red Foxes will look to bounce back quickly as they travel to Niagara for a Saturday matchup. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
