Football Heads to St. Thomas

Red Foxes, Tommies Kick Off at 2 p.m. Eastern Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University football team travels to St. Thomas for a Pioneer Football League game on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Eastern.

National Recognition
  • Chase Hatton was named to the Watch List for the Jerry Rice Award. Hatton has earned Honorable Mention for Stats Perform FCS Freshman of the Week twice, following Marist's wins against New Haven and Wagner.
  • Nate Furrow (Defensive Player of the Week) and Jeremy DeCaro (Freshman of the Week) both earned Honorable Mention from Stats Perform following Marist's win at San Diego. Furrow had five TFLs and three sacks, while DeCaro amassed 140 all-purpose yards.
  • Nate Robinson Jr. was named Stats Perform FCS Defensive Player of the Week after a 10-tackle, two-interception performance at Wagner.
  • Ethan Yuska earned Honorable Mention for Stats Perform FCS Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 45.8 yards on five punts at Butler.
  • Chris Leonardo is a national semifinalist for this year's Campbell Trophy.
 
Fourth Down
  • Marist is tied for ninth in the FCS in fourth downs converted (13), and is tied for first in fourth down attempts (29).
  • Marist has scored six touchdowns this season on fourth down. Four have been over 25 yards (27, 35, 35, 59).
  • Marist is tied for the FCS lead with 14 fourth down stops on defense.
  • Marist is second in the FCS in defensive fourth-down conversion percentage (22.2%, 4-for-18).
 
Defense Does It
  • Nate Robinson Jr. is tied for the FCS lead in passes defensed per game (1.75), is tied for second in pass break-ups (11), and is tied for seventh in total interceptions (three). Robinson's four PBUs vs. San Diego were the most by a Red Fox in a game since 2018 (Ryan Webb). His 14 passes defensed this season are the most in the program in a season since 2002 (Ike Ibeh, Aubrey Bennett).
  • Tyrell Powell is tied for fifth in the FCS with two fumble recoveries.
  • As a team, Marist is third in Red Zone defense (scores by opponent on 67.7% of trips), tied for sixth in turnovers forced (15), tied for 11th in the FCS in fumble recoveries (seven), 14th in turnover margin (+0.75 per game), and tied for 16th in the FCS in interceptions (eight).
  • Marist five interceptions at Wagner were its most in a game since 2021.
 
Offensive Production
  • Among FCS tight ends, Connor Hulstein ranks second in receiving yards (352), third in receptions (27), and fifth in receiving touchdowns (four).
  • Lance Martinez is 15th in the FCS in yards per reception (19.33).
  • Marist has committed just nine turnovers in eight games this season.
 
Marist in the PFL
  • Marist's first three PFL games this season were all decided by one score. The Red Foxes last played three straight one-score PFL games in 2015.
  • Marist's record for one-score PFL games in a season is five, set in 2021 and 2015.
  • Marist is 60-64 all-time in PFL play, having joined the league in 2009. Marist is 9-14 in September, 33-27 in October, 18-22 in November, and 0-1 in December.
  • Marist is 29-34 at home, and 31-30 on the road in PFL play.
  • Marist won a share of the PFL championship in 2013.
 
About St. Thomas
  • Picked third in the PFL Preseason Poll, the Tommies have won three straight, and have topped 50 points in all three.
  • They outscored Davidson, Valparaiso, and Stetson by a combined total of 167-40.
  • Head coach Glenn Caruso is in his 18th years, and has never had a losing season.
 
Series vs. St. Thomas
  • St. Thomas has won all four meetings in a series that started in 2021.
  • Last year's contest was the closest of the four, with a seven-point margin. In that game, Marist quarterback Sonny Mannino tied the single-game program record with five touchdown passes.
