Men's Soccer Falls Short at Niagara, 2–1

Moroz Nets First Career Goal as Marist's Comeback Effort Comes Up Just Shy

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, New York - The Marist men's soccer team dropped a tightly contested MAAC road match on Saturday afternoon, falling 2–1 to Niagara at Niagara Field. The Red Foxes move to 6–2–2 overall and 2–2–0 in conference play.

The Purple Eagles struck twice in the opening 25 minutes. Niklas Kneller put Niagara ahead in the 14th minute with an unassisted goal, and Thomas Brooks doubled the lead in the 23rd minute off a setup from Zachary Applewhite.

Marist clawed one back before halftime when junior forward Eric Moroz scored his first career goal in the 39th minute to make it 2–1. The Red Foxes carried that momentum into the second half, creating several scoring chances while outshooting Niagara 12–8 over the final 45 minutes.

Despite the offensive pressure, Marist couldn't find the equalizer. Niagara goalkeeper Grant Wyles turned aside 12 shots in the match, while Marist keeper Jamie Lowell made nine saves, including a penalty kick stop in the 88th minute to keep the Red Foxes within striking distance.

For the game, Marist held a 21–16 advantage in total shots and a 6–5 edge in corner kicks. Four different Red Foxes recorded multiple shots on goal, with Kyle Evans and Evan Marques each generating several key chances.

The Red Foxes will look to rebound after some time off as the team returns to action on Wednesday, October 15 at home against Sacred Heart.
