POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Marist women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak in MAAC play on Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Quinnipiac at Tenney Stadium.
The Red Foxes (4-5-4 overall, 3-0-4 MAAC) outshot the Bobcats 11–3, including a dominant 9–0 edge in the second half, but were unable to break through against Quinnipiac's back line and goalkeeper Gwen Hoyt, who recorded four saves.
Senior goalkeeper
Maddy Catalanotti anchored Marist's defense, turning away all three shots on goal to post her fourth shutout of the season. Behind her, the Red Foxes back line—led by
Riley Benito,
Sophia Dorsey, and
Sophia DeJoia —kept Quinnipiac without a shot in the final 45 minutes.
Offensively,
Gabby Tirado led the way with three shots (two on goal), while
Jillian Garcia added two shots and one on target. The Red Foxes created sustained pressure down the stretch, earning six corner kicks in the second half, but the Bobcats' defense stood tall to preserve the draw.
The tie keeps Marist unbeaten through seven conference matches and marks the team's second clean sheet in league play.
Marist returns to action on Saturday, October 12, when it travels to face Merrimack in another key MAAC matchup. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. in North Andover, N.Y.
