Red Foxes Post School Record, Event Win at Fastrack Season Opener

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Marist men's track & field team opened its 2025-26 indoor season with a strong collective performance on Friday at the Fastrack Season Opener, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Red Foxes recorded a school record, an event victory, and a wave of personal bests across sprints, mid-distance, and field events to launch the campaign with momentum.

Sprinter Amari Mathis led the charge on the track, placing second in the 60-meter dash invitational in a personal-best 6.80—one of the fastest openers in program history. He returned later to anchor the 4x400-meter relay, contributing to one of the top relay times of the day.

Marist produced a standout showing in the 400 meters, with Ryan Trocolar finishing runner-up in 49.24, followed closely by Simon Advento, who opened his season with a personal-best 49.94 for third. The pair helped set the tone for one of the deepest quarter-mile groups the program has fielded in recent years.

The strongest event of the day came in the 800 meters, where Marist swept the top two spots. Joaquin Bell-Andrade claimed the event title in a personal-best 1:54.99, edging teammate Cole Lucas, who also recorded a personal best at 1:55.15. The Red Foxes placed five in the top 13, signaling major depth in the mid-distance group.

In the field events, Luke Adami delivered one of the highlights of the meet by breaking the school record in the long jump, soaring 7.07 meters (23'2.25") to finish second overall. His mark surpasses the previous record of 6.87 meters set in 2021. Adami also placed sixth in the high jump, completing a standout multi-event day.

The meet concluded with three Marist teams competing in the 4x400-meter relay. The A-relay (Advento, Mathis, Trocolar, Okoli) finished second in 3:21.60, while the C- and B-squads closed out the day in seventh and tenth, respectively.

The Red Foxes return to action on January 9, when they participate in the TCNJ Invite.
