Chase Hatton of the Marist University football team was named a Freshman All-American by FCS Football Central on Monday.

FCS Football Central, which appears on SI.com, honored 62 players across all positions on its All-American Team.

Hatton was previously named a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award (presented to the top freshman in the FCS), Pioneer Football League Defensive Freshman of the Year, and Second Team All-PFL.

This season, Hatton totaled 89 tackles, five tackles for loss, four interceptions, one fumble recovery, and one pass break-up. In the regular season, he was tied for first among FCS freshmen in interceptions, and he was tied for third in tackles.

Hatton was named Honorable Mention for FCS Freshman of the Week three times this season. He was named PFL Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 12 tackles and two interceptions in a victory over Stetson on Nov. 8.
