POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University men's basketball team defeated Siena by a score of 72-67 in front of a sellout crowd on ESPNU Friday night at McCann Arena.
It was the Marist men's basketball program's first home sellout since 2008.
- There were seven lead changes in the first 8:14 of the game.
- Elijah Lewis' jumper with 11:46 left in the half gave Marist a 14-12 lead, and the Red Foxes led the rest of the way.
- Jackson Price's three at the 1:40 mark put Marist up eight, which was the Red Foxes' largest lead of the first 20 minutes.
- The Red Foxes took a 33-26 lead to the locker room.
- Josh Pascarelli scored five straight points to give Marist its first 10-point lead with 17:43 to go.
- A 9-2 Marist run, which included six straight points by Lewis, gave Marist its largest lead at 13 with 9:32 remaining.
- Siena countered with a 13-2 run to cut its deficit to two with 6:36 left.
- Marist built its lead back up to 11 as Lewis, Pascarelli, and Jaden Daughtry all hit threes in a span of 1:49.
- An 8-0 run brought Siena within two with 59 seconds left, but a layup by Jadin Collins-Roberts on the ensuing possession gave the Red Foxes a two-possession lead again.
- Lewis scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He paced four Marist scorers in double digits, a list that included Pascarelli (16), Price (13), and Daughtry (13).
- Daughtry led Marist with a game-high 10 rebounds.
- Marist committed just seven turnovers.
- Marist shot 6-for-12 from three in the second half.
- Justice Shoats and Gavin Doty led Siena with 19 points apiece. Doty had a team-best eight rebounds.
- Marist's 16-3 start ties its best record after 19 games in its Division I history.
- Daughtry had his first double-double of the season, and it was the second of his career. He now has six career games with at least 10 rebounds.
- Lewis' eight rebounds tied a career high.
- Marist concluded January with a 7-1 record. This ties the Red Foxes' most wins in January since 2008.
