FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist men's basketball team fell to Fairfield, 59-56, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Thursday at Mahoney Arena.
Deon Perry hit a shot from approximately 70 feet away to give Fairfield the win with no time remaining.
- Josh Pascarelli's three-pointer staked Marist to an early 7-3 lead.
- Marist maintained a 9-7 lead as with no points scored either way for a span of 4:59.
- Fairfield used an 8-0 run to take a four-point lead.
- Marist re-claimed a one-point lead as Travis Roberts scored five consecutive points in a span of 29 seconds.
- Fairfield countered with a 6-0 run, which forced a Marist timeout.
- Jadin Collins-Roberts scored the final five points of the half, and the score was tied 27-27 after 20 minutes.
- Back-to-back threes by Pascarelli put Marist up four with 17:07 left.
- Deon Perry scored five straight points to put Fairfield up five with 13:44 left, but Marist re-claimed the lead on back-to-back baskets by Pascarelli and Jaden Daughtry.
- Fairfield went back in front with a 5-0 run, punctuated by a Perry three.
- With 2:59 to go, Tarik Watson's layup gave Marist a 52-51 lead. Collins-Roberts' three on the Red Foxes' next possession put them up four.
- Peyton Smith's layup tied the game with under 10 seconds remaining, and Perry's three won the game on the Stags' next possession.
- Pascarelli led Marist with 15 points. He scored the Red Foxes' first 10 points of the second half.
- Collins-Roberts had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
- Marist held Fairfield to .315 (17-for-54) shooting from the field, but the Stags shot .808 (21-for-26) from the line.
- Marist shot .393 (22-for-56) from the field, .263 (5-for-19) from three-point range, and .538 (7-for-13) from three-point range.
- Perry was the game's high scorer with 19 points.
- Pascarelli has scored in double figures in all 20 of Marist's games this season.
- Tarik Watson made his first career start at center. He scored eight points and grabbed a career-high six rebounds.
