CONWAY, South Carolina – The Marist softball team earned two victories on its first day at the Battle of the Beach Tournament on Friday.

Isabella Manory had a two-homer game, including a walk-off in the seventh, in the Red Foxes' 6-3 victory over Kent State. In Marist's second game of the day,
Miah McDonald homered in her first two at bats, and
Kiley Myers tossed a four-hit shutout in a 6-0 triumph over Notre Dame.
Marist has now won five straight, and stands at 6-1 this season.

- Kent State opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the fourth, but Maddie Pleasants and Isabella Manory belted back-to-back homers in the bottom half of the inning to cut the Red Foxes' deficit to one.
- The score remained 3-2 in favor of Kent State until the bottom of the seventh. Peyton Pusey led off with a single, and Miah McDonald followed with a walk. Pleasants' single brought home Pusey to tie the score, and Manory's second homer of the game ended it.
- In addition to going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, Pleasants tossed a three-hitter with just two walks, and she struck out six.
- Manory drove in four.
- Pusey went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base.

- Marist jumped out to a 2-0 lead two hitters into the bottom of the first. Pusey reached on an infield single, and McDonald followed with an opposite field homer.
- Samantha Rogers' solo shot extended Marist's lead to 3-0 in the second.
- McDonald's second homer in as many at-bats gave the Red Foxes a 4-0 edge in the third.
- Sienna Kunze's two-run single in the fifth, which brought in Pusey and pinch-runner Ava Hampton, closed out the scoring.
- Rogers and McDonald led Marist with two hits apiece. Rogers reached safely in all three of her plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with a homer, single, and walk.
- Kiley Myers went the distance to improve to 3-0 on the season. Myers tossed a four-hitter, walked no one, and struck out two. Myers retired the first seven hitters and she faced, and did not allow a runner to reach third base.

- Marist will play two more games on Saturday at the Battle at the Beach.
- The Red Foxes will face Towson at 11:45 a.m. and Coastal Carolina at 4:45.
