POUGHKEEPSIE, NY. – Junior
Morgan Lee scored a team-high 16 points, as Marist women's basketball was downed by MAAC foe Merrimack at home, 55-48, Saturday afternoon inside McCann Arena.
Jackie Piddock added 10 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in the loss.
With the loss, Marist fell to 12-12 on the season and 7-7 in the MAAC, while Merrimack improved to 11-13 on the campaign and 7-8 in conference play.

The two sides were even through the first half of the opening frame, entering the media timeout tied at 7-7 with
Morgan Lee accounting for all seven of Marist's points. The two sides continued to trade points to a 12-12 tie into the second quarter.

The Red Foxes opened the half by scoring five straight points to push ahead 17-12 before Merrimack responded with a swift 4-0 run of themselves to cut the Marist lead to 17-16 at the media timeout. The two sides were nearly even for the rest of the half, Marist and Merrimack went into halftime tied at 25-25.

The Red Foxes took a brief 27-25 lead to open the half, however, Merrimack responded with a 14-5 run, forcing a Marist timeout trailing 39-32 with 4:21 left in the third quarter. The Warriors outpaced the Red Foxes 18-9 in the frame, taking a 43-34 advantage into the fourth.

After falling behind 47-34, the Red Foxes responded with a swift 8-2 run, forcing a Merrimack timeout with Marist trailing 49-42 with 6:54 left in regulation. The Marist run reached 12-2 following two made free throws and a mid-range jumper from Lee to trim the deficit to 49-46 into the media timeout with 2:46 left in regulation.
The Warriors snapped the Marist run with a three-pointer to extend the lead to six for the Warriors with 1:55 remaining in regulation. The Red Foxes never got within five again, as Merrimack eventually held on for the 55-48 victory.
