DeLAND, Florida – The Marist softball team recorded a 5-0 shutout victory of LIU to close out play in the Stetson Invitational on Sunday.
- Haley Ahr's two-run homer staked Marist to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Ahr's blast drove in Peyton Pusey, who reached on a one-out single.
- Ahr's two-run double in the fifth brought home Ronni Howard and Pusey.
- Sienna Kunze followed with a two-out single in the fifth, which brought home Miah McDonald.
- The top three hitters in the Marist order – Pusey, McDonald, and Ahr – went 7-for-11 with five runs scored and four RBIs.
- Ahr reached safely in all four plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a walk. She drove in four, scored once, and had a homer and double.
- Pusey and McDonald each went 2-for-4. Pusey scored two runs.
- Kunze went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Maddie Pleasants tossed a three-hit shutout. Pleasants struck out six, walked three, and needed just 97 pitches to get through seven innings. She induced 12 ground ball outs.
- Ahr finished the Stetson Invitational by going 10-for-17 (.588) with two homers and 12 RBIs.
- Pleasants' shutout was the second of her career.
- This ties the fastest Marist reached 10 wins in program history. The Red Foxes also started 10-4 in 1995, 2016, and 2024.
- Marist improved to 10-4.
- LIU is now 1-13.
- Marist returns to action next weekend with five games in the Winthrop Tournament.
- The Red Foxes will face Southern Indiana, Winthrop, Youngstown State, Charlotte, and St. Bonaventure.
