STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Marist softball team earned two wins on Saturday at the Texan Classic.
The Red Foxes began the day with a 5-1 win over McNeese State, and followed with an 8-1 triumph over host Tarleton State.
The Red Foxes are now 3-1 this season.
- Marist opened the scoring on Haley Ahr's two-run double in the bottom of the third, which brought home Maddie Gore and Peyton Pusey.
- Isabella Manory's home run – her second in as many starts this season – staked Marist to a 3-0 lead in the fourth.
- Marist tacked on two more in the fifth. Ahr's RBI double scored McDonald, and then Anna Sidlowski's sacrifice fly plated Ahr.
- McNeese scored in the top of the seventh and got the tying run into the on-deck circle, but Kiley Myers came on in relief of Maddie Pleasants to record the final out and the save.
- Pleasants struck out a career-high 11. She allowed just three hits, two walks, and one run in 6.2 innings.
- McDonald, Ahr, and Manory had two hits apiece. McDonald and Ahr each had two doubles, while Ahr drove in three runs.
- Marist scored three times in the top of the first. Haley Ahr's single brought home Peyton Pusey, Maddie Pleasants' sacrifice fly scored Miah McDonald, and Ahr came in on a fielder's choice off the bat of Isabella Manory.
- The Red Foxes then broke the game open with a five-run sixth. Ronni Howard cleared the bases with a double, which scored Kaitlyn Husic, Samantha Rogers, and Marissa Scarano. McDonald's two-run single scored Howard and Peyton Pusey.
- Tarleton State scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
- Marist recorded nine hits, led by McDonald with three and Pusey with two. Pusey also scored two runs.
- Kiley Myers (2-0) went the distance in the circle. Myers struck out four, allowed just one run and five hits, and she walked zero.

- Marist closes out play in the Texan Classic on Sunday, with a single game against Bucknell.
