POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist University's
Josh Pascarelli was named First Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference,
Elijah Lewis was named Third Team All-MAAC, and five men's basketball players were named to the conference's All-Academic Team.
Pascarelli became the first Red Fox to earn a First Team All-MAAC selection since Jared Jordan was named MAAC Player of the Year in 2007. He was a two-time MAAC Player of the Week selection this season, and he was named Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week once. Pascarelli ranks in the conference's top 10 in three-pointers per game (2.7, third), points per game (15.9, sixth), three-point percentage (.408, seventh), and minutes per game (34.4, seventh). He had seven games with at least 20 points, and his 31 points against Canisius on Feb. 21 were a career high.
Lewis was named Third Team All-MAAC in his first season in a Marist uniform. He averaged 11.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, and his .832 free throw percentage ranks third in the conference. Lewis was named MAAC Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 30 after tallying 21 points, six assists, and six rebounds against Binghamton the previous day. He led Marist in scoring seven times in the regular season, and the Red Foxes were 7-0 in those games. Lewis, who played his first two seasons at Adelphi, scored his 1,000
th collegiate point on Dec. 17 at Stony Brook.
Five Red Foxes were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, with requirements of at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average plus two semesters completed on campus:
The Marist men's basketball team (20-9 overall, 13-7 MAAC) is the #3 seed in this week's Hercules Tires MAAC Men's Basketball Championship at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Red Foxes open play against #6 Mount St. Mary's (19-12, 12-8) in the quarterfinal round on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m.
