Marist Returns to Tennis Pavilion to Host Quinnipiac

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—The Marist men's and women's tennis teams will host Quinnipiac at the Tennis Pavilion on Saturday, March 22.

The women will play at 11:30 a.m.; the men will play at 2:30 p.m.
 
Last Time Out - Women
  • The Marist women's tennis team won a dramatic 4-3 match against Metropolitan State University of Denver on Saturday, March 14.
  • Viktoria Lorentzon defeated her opponent at #2 singles, 7-6(3), 7-6(2).
  • Cloe Clements Sorde took a two-set victory at #3 singles, 6-0, 7-5.
  • Vihana Shresta won at #4 singles, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
  • Andriana Zaphiris secured the comeback win for the Red Foxes at #5 singles, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Last Time =Out - Men
  • Idaho State blanked the men's team 7-0 on Sunday, March 16.
  • Gregor Heinemann and Jose Catala were tied 5-5 in their doubles matchup at #2, but the match remained unfinished after Idaho State claimed the doubles point.
  • Augustin Damonte fell in three sets at #4 singles.
  • Fateh Singh, too, fell in three sets to his opponent at #6 singles.
 
Scouting Quinnipiac (Women)
  • The Bobcats are 2-8 (1-0 in MAAC Play) on the season, falling in their previous outing to Hampton University 4-3 on Wednesday, March 12.
  • The Bobcats are on a three-match losing streak, falling to North Carolina University 4-3, Navy 5-2, and Hampton University 4-3.
  • Sophomore Caroline Schulson had won three straight singles matches before she fell to Hampton's Serena Bryan at #4.
  • The Bobcats have only claimed the doubles point once in 10 contests in 2025.
  • The Red Foxes are 0-18 all-time against the Bobcats, last losing 6-1 to them on March 24, 2024.
  • Quinnipiac was selected second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll with 71 points, 16 points ahead of third place Marist.
 
Scouting Quinnipiac (Men)
  • The defending MAAC Champions are 2-11 on the season and are 1-0 in MAAC Play.
  • The Bobcats were victorious in their previous outing, defeating Colgate 5-2 on Sunday, March 9.
  • Graduate Student Daniel Velek led the Bobcats to victory over the Raiders. At #2 doubles, Velek, alongside partner James Lorenzetti, defeated their opponents 6-3. At #1 singles, Velek took a three-set victory, 0-6, 6-4, 6-2.
  • The Red Foxes are 9-7 all-time against the Bobcats. These teams last met in the 2024 MAAC Championship Semifinals, where Quinnipiac defeated Marist 4-3 en route to an MAAC Championship victory.
  • The Bobcats were selected first in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 76 points, 34 points ahead of fifth Marist with 42.
