Track & Field Set to Wrap Indoor Season at IC4A/ECAC Championships

BOSTON, MASS. – The Marist men's and women's track & field teams travel to Boston for the IC4A/ECAC Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center for their final meet of the indoor season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Marist track and field teams competed at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Last Chance Invitational, their ninth meet of the season, on Feb. 28th
  • On the women's side, Nina Florio (11th) set a PR in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.39.
  • Emily Litke set a new PR in the 3000-meter run, earning seventh place with a time of 10:43.99. Mary Dougherty (16th) followed her lead, shaving over a minute off her time for her PR of 11:08.22.
  • As for the men, William Carrol (12th) set a new PR in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.43.
  • The 800-meter run saw three new PRs with Alexander Ushchak (13th) racing a time of 1:59.02, Marcel Stewart (16th) in 1:59.86, and Josiah Sierra (33rd) with a time of 2:04.62.
WOMEN'S HISTORY AT ECAC
  • The Marist women's track and field team competed at the ECAC Championships last from Mar. 2nd through Mar. 3rd, 2024.
  • Grace O'Neill finished fifth in the women's high jump with a height of 1.58m (5 feet, 2.25 inches), earning All-ECAC honors.
  • The distance medley relay team of Sierra Fisher, Breelyn McNamara, Kayla Hawkins, and Parker O'Brien finished in seventh overall, running the third fastest time in school history with a time of 11:59.13.
  • Following that, the 4x800m relay of Julia Kropo, Jackie Caron, Raven Stanet, and Grace Fletcher secured sixth place in the championship heat. Both teams earned All-ECAC honors.
  • Sierra Fisher also set a new personal record time of 2:56.39 in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in 12th place.
MEN'S HISTORY AT ECAC
  • The Marist men's track and field team competed at the IC4A Championships last from Mar. 2nd through Mar. 3rd, 2024.
  • Easton Eberwein broke the 17-year-old school record in the 400-meter dash with an impressive time of 49.10. Surpassing the previous record of 49.14 set by Brian DeMarco in 2007, Eberwein's achievement marks a remarkable milestone in Marist track history.
  • He also earned eighth place in the finals, securing IC4A All-East honors.
  • The 4x800m relay and distance medley relay teams each secured top-10 finishes for the Red Foxes.
  • Freshman Raffi Buchakjian set a new personal record time of 2:30.46 in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in 16th place.
