POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—The Marist men's and women's tennis teams will finish their regular seasons by hosting the Siena Saints on Friday, April 18.

The teams will also hold their senior day ceremonies before their matches: the men at 11:45 a.m. and the women at 3:45 p.m.

The men's team will play Siena at noon, and the women's team will play Siena at 4 p.m.

The women's team qualified for the MAAC Championships for the first time since 2019. The championship will occur from Thursday, April 24, to  Sunday, April 27, at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ.

The contest against Siena marks the end of the 2024-25 season for the men's team, which could not qualify for the MAAC Championships.
 
 

Last Time Out For the Women

• The women's team clinched their berth to the MAAC Championships after they shutout the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers  4-0 
• The Red Foxes swept the doubles 3-0 and went 3-0 in the singles, with three matches unfinished. 
• The pairs of Junior Cloe Clements Sorde/Freshman Lola Ungerman and Sophmore Jane Wright/Sophmore Caterina Assi won  #1 doubles 6-1 and #3 doubles 6-3, while #2 was left unfinished.
• Caterina Assi, Cloe Clements Sorde, and freshman Ella Lindsey secured victories in #1, #2, and #6 singles, all in two sets, highlighted by Lindsey's 6-0, 6-0 sets in #6.
• The women's team's record is 11-7 overall and 4-3 in MAAC play entering the season's final match.

 

Last Time Out for the Men

• At home, the men's team fell to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers 4-3 on Tuesday, April 15.
• The Red Foxes went 1-3 in doubles and 3-6 in singles.
• Freshman Gregor Heinemann/Senior Jose Catala won the lone doubles match for Marist, winning 6-2 
• In the singles matches, Catala won in two sets 6-1, 6-4 in #1 singles, while freshman Anirudh Nallaparaju won #4 singles 6-1, 6-4, and freshman Ian Layton fought back in #5 singles 0-6, 6-2, 6-3 for the win
• The Red Foxes enter the weekend, having lost nine straight matches.
• The men's team sits at a record of 5-13 overall and 1-6 in MAAC Conference play heading into the season's final match.

 

Scouting Siena Women (Friday, April 18 at 4 p.m.)

• The women's Siena Saints have a 6-10 overall record and a 4-3 record in the MAAC.
• The Saints won their last match 4-3 against Rider on April 15
• All-time, Marist is 18-7 head-to-head against Siena, but they have lost the last three matches. The most recent loss came on April 8, 2024, when they lost 6-1 at home.
• Following Marist, the Saint competed in the MAAC Championships from April 1227 in West Windsor, NJ, at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center.

 

Scouting Siena Men (Friday, April 18 at noon)

• The men's Siena Saints have a record of 5-12 overall and 4-3 in the MAAC.
• The Saints dropped their last match to Rider 4-3 on Tuesday, April 15.
• The Marist men's team is 19-2 all-time against Siena and had 18 straight victories from 2001 to 2019.
• At home, the Red Foxes won the previous matchup 4-3 on April 8, 2024.
• Following Marist, the Saints will compete in the MAAC Championships from April 24 - April 27 in West Windsor, NJ, at the Mercer County Park Tennis Center.
