Red Foxes Set for Vassar Springtime Meet Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK. – The Marist men's and women's track & field teams travel to Poughkeepsie, New York for the Vassar Springtime Invitational at the Weinberg Track for their seventh meet of the season. 

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Marist track and field teams competed at the Rider Invitational for their fifth meet of the outdoor season from Apr. 18th through Apr. 19th, 2025. 

  • On the women's side, Alexandra Samperi (4th) soared to a new PR in the long jump with a distance of 5.58 meters to open the invitational for the Red Foxes. 

  • Marist 'A' (Mirabile, Stanet, Maclaren, Hawkins) placed second in the 4x400-meter relay, closing in 4:02.61. 

  • Kelly Ballen (6th) furthered her own school record with a throw of 32.20 meters in the discus. Jenna Borselle (7th) had her own major PR with a throw of 30.55 meters. 

  • As for the men, freshman Davis Haines (17th) started the men's team off with a PR of 15:39.68 in the 5000-meter run. 

  • Amari Mathis took home the men's third third-place finish of the day with a PR of 10.63 in the 100-meter run. 

WOMEN'S HISTORY AT VASSAR SPRINGTIME INVITE
  • This Marist women's track and field team competed at the Vassar Springtime Invite last on Apr. 26th, 2024. 

  • Julia Kropo clinched first place in the javelin throw with a personal best toss of 37.04 meters (121 feet, 6 inches). Grace Murphy finished in third with a personal best throw of 31.09 meters (102 feet). 

  • Madison LaCreta secured second place in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in a personal best time of 16.11 seconds. 

  • In the 800-meter run, Mackenzie Schubert (2:28.84, 8th) ran a personal best, and Grace LaCapra (2:31.93, 9th) ran a season best to give the Red Foxes two top-ten finishers in the race. 

MEN'S HISTORY AT VASSAR SPRINGTIME INVITE
  • The Marist men's track and field team competed at the Vassar Springtime Invite last on Apr. 26th, 2024. 

  • Noah Brown vaulted a season best 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11.25 inches) in the pole vault to finish first. Simon Advento finished right behind him in second with a personal best height of 3.80 meters (12 feet, 5.5 inches). 

  • In the javelin throw, Liam Haggerty captured first place with a personal best toss of 44.49 meters (145 feet, 11 inches). Derek Paolella secured third place with a personal best throw of 40.43 meters (132 feet, 7 inches). 

  • Chris Paxis claimed second place in the 800-meter run, finishing in a season best time of 1:54.32. Matthew Ferreri (1:56.20, 4th) ran a personal best and Tyler Perry (1:57.01, 5th) ran a season best to give the Red Foxes three top-five finishers in the race. 

  • With a personal best time of 4:04.38 in the 1,500-meter run, Alexander Ushchak finished in third place. 

  • Kevin Lee gave Marist another third-place finisher as he set a new personal best of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6.25 inches) in the long jump. 

UP NEXT
  • The teams will be back in action from May 10th through May 11th, when they will compete at the MAAC Outdoor Championships. 

  • The event will take place at the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex.
