POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University softball team clinched the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season championship on Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of Iona at Gartland Field.

The Red Foxes won the first game 2-1, and game two 8-1.

Miah McDonald homered in both games. Her solo shot in game one gave her the MAAC single-season record for home runs, and she now has 23 this season.

With the two wins, Marist has extended its winning streak to 13. The Red Foxes won the MAAC regular-season title for the second straight season.

- Brianna Fischer's RBI single gave Iona a 1-0 lead in the third.
- McDonald's solo homer in the fourth tied the score.
- Peyton Pusey's solo homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth accounted for the game-winning run.
- Kiley Myers went the distance as she improved to 20-1.
- Myers tossed a four-hitter, walked just one, and struck out six.
- Myers became Marist's first 20-game winner since Megan Rigos in 2006.

- In the top of the third, Fischer scored the game's first run on a wild pitch.
- Marist took the lead for good on McDonald's three-run homer in the bottom of the third. Pinch-runner Marissa Scarano scored the Red Foxes' fourth run of the inning on a double play.
- The Red Foxes added four more runs in the fifth. Haley Ahr's single scored Pusey, and Maddie Pleasants followed with a three-run homer.
- Pusey and Ronni Howard had two hits apiece.
- Anna Sidlowski (9-3) earned the win and allowed three hits and one run in five innings. Emma Bayor finished with two scoreless innings.

- Marist is 43-7-1 overall and 20-2-1 in the MAAC.
- Iona is 28-18 this season and 18-7 in MAAC play.
