STORRS, Connecticut – Marist women's volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision at UConn on Saturday afternoon at the UConn Volleyball Center. The Red Foxes moved to 1-9 on the season, while the Huskies improved to 10-1.
UConn took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-15.

Sara Dasic led the Red Foxes with nine kills while hitting .375, adding a service ace and 14 total points.

Sarah Bumstead chipped in seven kills at a .429 clip and contributed a team-high two blocks.

Caelyn Dumas made her presence felt at the net with seven digs, six assists, and a block.

Claire Lewis directed the attack with 30 assists while also adding nine digs.

Defensively, libero Cecilia Potter-Pessoa paced Marist with 12 digs.
The Red Foxes held close in the opening frame, trailing just 21-20 late, but UConn closed with a 4-1 run to seal the first set. The Huskies' strong blocking and efficient hitting carried them through the next two sets to complete the sweep.
UConn was led by Loren Winn (14 kills, .529 hitting percentage) and Emma Werkmeister (14 kills, .357). The Huskies finished with a .342 team hitting percentage and nine total blocks, compared to Marist's .096 and four blocks.
Marist takes on Brown Sunday afternoon in Storrs to wrap up weekend play, before returning to McCann Arena to open MAAC play on Friday, Sept. 26, against Rider. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
