STORRS, Connecticut – Marist women's volleyball turned in a gritty performance Sunday afternoon but ultimately fell in four sets to Brown (25-21, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19) at the UConn Volleyball Center.
The Red Foxes (5-4) were led offensively by Sara Dasic, who posted a match-high 15 kills on a .429 hitting percentage. Mallory Reck added 10 kills, while Taylor Miller and Eden Bristow chipped in seven apiece. Setter Claire Lewis directed the offense with 49 assists and contributed 12 digs for a double-double performance.
Defensively, libero Cecilia Potter-Pessoa anchored the back row with a team-high 20 digs, while Caelyn Dumas added 14. At the net, Lewis, Sarah Bumstead, and Reck combined for three of Marist's team blocks.
Marist dropped a tight opening set 25-21 before storming back to even the match with a 26-24 victory in set two, capped by a Dasic service ace. Brown responded with a strong third set to regain control and sealed the match in the fourth behind a balanced attack and 16 team blocks.
Brown was paced by Sophia Wolfson with 21 kills and Mariia Sidorova with 19.
The Red Foxes will return to action next weekend when they open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
