Bryan's Two Goals Leads Red Foxes Past Chargers, 3-1

Women's Soccer Earns First Win of Season Behind Three Second-Half Goals

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Behind a dominant second-half performance, the Marist women's soccer team earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over New Haven on Tuesday evening inside Tenney Stadium.

After a scoreless first half in which the Red Foxes (1-5-1) outshot the Chargers 14-0, the breakthrough came just five minutes after the restart. Freshman forward Ella Bryan opened the scoring in the 50th minute, finishing a combination play set up by Anna Maggi and Jiji Sweiss.

Bryan struck again in the 71st minute, doubling Marist's lead with her second goal of the night off a feed from Mia Katchouni.

New Haven (0-4-0) quickly responded, pulling one back in the 73rd minute on a goal by Emma Mitchell. But the Red Foxes sealed the result in the 89th minute when junior Delia Hahn slotted home her first of the season, assisted by Sophia Dorsey, to cap off the 3-1 win.

Marist controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting New Haven 23-1 and forcing goalkeeper Caitlin Daley into seven saves. Bryan led all players with seven shots and four on goal, while freshman Isabella Seibert and sophomore Gabby Tirado added to the offensive push with multiple chances.

Goalkeepers Samantha Graf and Nelly Bianchi-Nagle split time in net for the Red Foxes.

Marist continues its homestand on Saturday, Sept. 13, when it welcomes Siena to Tenney Stadium for MAAC play. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from ESPN+.

Quote From Coach

Really great to get that first win, the girls have been working hard and I feel as though we have been getting better with every week. We tied the last game, then to get the win tonight, it's great to build momentum as we look forward to Siena on Saturday. I cannot say enough about well the girls competed and performed and executed tonight.
