STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A near school record, multiple personal bests, and standout freshman performances highlighted the Marist men's track and field team's showing at the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Ryan Trocolar delivered the Red Foxes' top performance of the meet, charging to first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.73. The mark came within 0.07 seconds of his own school record, underscoring his consistency and dominance at the event.

Freshman thrower Hayden Mundrake made a powerful collegiate debut, posting two personal bests — in both the shot put (12.99m) and weight throw (12.73m) — to lead Marist's field event group.

The Red Foxes also excelled in the sprints, particularly the 200-meter dash, where Manasi Simpkins, Simon Advento, and Weston LaBrecque each posted personal bests. Simpkins added another highlight in the long jump, where the freshman soared to a personal-best 6.92 meters, finishing sixth overall.

Additional strong distance results included Jacob Kosilla's personal-best performance in the mile and a trio of Red Foxes finishing in the top nine of the 5,000-meter run, led by Davis Haines in third place.

Marist closed the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay behind a balanced effort across all four legs.

Marist will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 23 for the Dr. Sanders Scorcher.
