FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Marist University women's basketball team dropped a 56-54 contest to Sacred Heart on Monday afternoon.
Marist led 46-31 through three quarters, but the Pioneers outscored the Red Foxes 25-8 in the final frame to rally for the victory.

- The Red Foxes opened the game on a 5-0 spurt behind a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Danielle Williamsen and a layup from senior captain guard Jackie Piddock.
- Marist held a 7-2 advantage at the media timeout with 4:05 remaining in the opening frame.
- The Red Foxes led 12-4 after one quarter of play.
- A bucket from Piddock followed by a 3-pointer from Tarul extended the Marist lead to 17-6, forcing a Sacred Heart timeout with 4:52 left in the half.
- Out of the break, sophomore guard Chloe Escanillas knocked down a pull-up jumper and then a 3-pointer to make it 22-6.
- The Pioneers closed the half on a 7-0 run, trimming the deficit to 26-16 at halftime.
- Sacred Heart opened the half with a 5-0 spurt to cut the Marist lead to 32-24 with 5:24 remaining.
- After Tarul connected on her second 3-pointer to push the lead back to 11, the Pioneers responded with a 7-0 run to make it 35-31 and prompt a Marist timeout at the 3:12 mark.
- The Red Foxes answered with an 11-0 run, highlighted by six points from Henry, to take a 46-31 advantage through three quarters.
- Sacred Heart opened the final frame with a 13-0 run to pull within two at 46-44 with 7:09 to play.
- Tarul stopped the run with a four-point play, giving Marist a 50-44 lead at the 5:38 mark.
- Marist later went up 54-49 on a layup from junior forward Karly Fischer, but the Pioneers closed the game on a 7-0 run to take a 56-54 lead and hold on for the win.
- The Red Foxes return home to host Siena on Thursday, Jan. 22.
