POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — A dominant first-half performance and balanced scoring effort lifted the Marist men's basketball team to a 71–64 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon inside McCann Arena. The Red Foxes improve to 13-7 overall and 7-4 in the MAAC, pulling even with the Bobcats in the conference standings.
Marist set the tone early, shooting 62 percent from the floor in the opening half while limiting Quinnipiac to 36.7 percent. The Red Foxes built an 18-point lead midway through the period and carried a 43-28 advantage into the break.
Quinnipiac made a push in the second half, outscoring Marist 36–28, but the Red Foxes held firm defensively and answered key runs to secure their seventh conference win.
Justin Menard paced Marist with 15 points, knocking down a pair of threes and adding three assists. Elijah Lewis added 14 points and four rebounds, while Jason Schofield provided efficient production in the paint with 12 points 5-for-5 shooting.
Jadin Collins-Roberts continued his strong two-way play, posting eight points, five rebounds and four assists. Off the bench, Rhyjon Blackwell gave the Red Foxes a spark with seven points, and Parby Kabamba added nine points and eight boards.
Defensively, the Red Foxes forced 16 turnovers, converting them into 19 points. Marist also held Quinnipiac to 5-for-20 shooting from three after the visitors opened the game with an early triple.
The win marks Marist's fourth straight at home and completes the season split with Quinnipiac.
The Red Foxes will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 31 when Marist takes on Canisius on the road. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from ESPN+.
