Red Foxes Take on Pioneers Friday Night at 7

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University men's basketball team (9-5 overall, 3-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) plays the first of its back-to-back road games on Friday night at Sacred Heart (5-11, 1-4). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
  • Marist defeated Iona by a score of 83-38 at McCann Arena on Sunday, Jan. 4. It was Marist's largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent in program history.  It was third-largest margin of victory in a MAAC game in conference history, and the largest since Jan. 6, 2008, when Rider defeated Canisius by 51 (102-51).
  • Marist's previous best against a Division I foe was 39 (93-54) against Saint Francis (NY) on Jan. 21, 1995. Marist's best previous margin against a MAAC opponent was 36 (84-48) against Monmouth on Jan. 16, 2022.
  • Iona's 38 points marked the lowest allowed by Marist since setting the program record with 33 against Vanderbilt on Nov. 23, 2012. It was the third time Marist allowed under 40 points in head coach John Dunne's eight-year tenure.
  • Marist forced 24 turnovers against Iona. That total is the highest Marist has forced in a game since turning Manhattan over 26 times on Dec. 19, 2020.
  • Rhyjon Blackwell led Marist with a game-high 17 points. Elijah Lewis (14), Myles Parker (11), and Jason Schofield (10) also scored in double figures.
  • Jadin Collins-Roberts had a team-high seven rebounds, and Justin Menard dished out a team-best five assists.
  • Marist held Iona to .318 (14-for-44) shooting from the field and .071 (1-for-14) from three-point range.

  • Marist ranks in the nation's top 15 in four categories: three-point percentage (third, .266), scoring defense (sixth, 61.9), free throw percentage (10th, .784), and field goal percentage defense (15th, .383).
  • Rhyjon Blackwell is fifth in the NCAA in free throw percentage (.949). Blackwell (13) and Justin Menard (10) have both converted at least 10 straight free throws.
  • Marist has forced an average of 16.3 turnovers over its last eight games. The Red Foxes have forced at least 20 turnovers three times this season.
  • Jason Schofield ranks third in the MAAC in field goal percentage (.547).
 
About Sacred Heart
  • The Pioneers have dropped four straight. In their last outing on Sunday, they fell at Canisius by a score of 82-78.
