NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Marist University women's basketball team lost in heartbreaking fashion, falling 59-57 to Merrimack in overtime on Thursday evening at Lawler Arena.

Justine Henry contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
The Red Foxes drop to 5-10 on the season and 2-3 in the MAAC, while the Warriors improve to 7-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

- Tarul got the scoring started with a step-back mid-range jumper and senior captain forward Ciara Croker followed with a corner 3-pointer to give Marist an early 5-0 lead at the 7:52 mark.
- The Red Foxes led 7-4 at the media timeout with 4:13 to go in the opening frame.
- Marist held a 13-8 advantage through one quarter of play.
- The Red Foxes took a 17-12 lead on back-to-back layups from junior forward Karly Fischer, but the Warriors countered with a 9-0 run to take a 21-17 lead at the 4:51 mark.
- Sophomore guard Danielle Williamsen drained a 3-pointer to beat the buzzer, giving the Red Foxes a 26-25 lead going into the locker room at halftime.
- Marist started the second half with a 5-0 spurt to take a 31-25 advantage with 5:37 to go in the third.
- The Red Foxes led 38-34 through three quarters.
- Marist increased its advantage to 40-34 on a mid-range jumper from Tarul before the Warriors countered with a 5-0 spurt to get within one at the 6:52 mark.
- The Red Foxes led 44-42 at the media timeout with 4:45 remaining in the game.
- The two teams continued to battle back-and-forth, with the Red Foxes holding a 49-47 advantage with 2:10 to go in the game.
- Merrimack took a 50-49 lead before Henry knocked down a clutch 3-pointer to give Marist a 52-50 lead with 1:33 remaining.
- The Warriors tied it up with 33.4 seconds remaining and neither team could execute on their final possession, forcing overtime.
- Williamsen drilled a 3-pointer to open the overtime period, giving the Red Foxes a 55-52 lead with 4:11 to play.
- Merrimack hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 57-57 with 44.9 seconds left, prompting a Marist timeout. Piddock got a decent look with a driving layup but was unable to convert and the Warriors secured the rebound.
- Merrimack's Se'Lah Reddick made the game-winning shot with 0.8 seconds left, and while Tarul knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer it was deemed after the clock expired.
- The Red Foxes return home to host Rider on Saturday, Jan. 10 for a MAAC matchup at McCann Arena.
