Men’s Basketball Comes Back, Defeats Sacred Heart

Collins-Roberts Scores 19 as Red Foxes Erase 13-Point Deficit

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut – The Marist University men's basketball team earned a 76-72 victory on Friday over Sacred Heart at the Pitt Center.
 
The Red Foxes erased a 13-point deficit in the first half.
 
Summary
  • Sacred Heart scored the game's first five points.
  • The Pioneers expanded their lead to 17-4, but Marist countered with a 6-0 run to get within seven.
  • A 9-3 Marist spurt, punctuated by a Parby Kabamba layup with 25 seconds left in the half, brought Marist to within three. Sacred Heart took a 44-38 lead into halftime.
  • Jadin Collins-Roberts scored four straight points, and his layup at 16:22 tied the score at 46 and forced Sacred Heart to call timeout.

  • Marist's 13-point deficit is the largest the Red Foxes have overcome this season. It is the 15th time in head coach John Dunne's eight seasons that Marist overcame a double-digit deficit to win.
  • Collins-Roberts' point total was a season high, and he tied his season high in steals.
  • Marist's .545 field goal percentage tied a season high. It was the third time this season the Red Foxes shot at least 50 percent from the field.
  • Marist is now 6-0 this season when committing under 10 turnovers.
