POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist volleyball returned home to face Iona University on Friday night, defeating the Gaels in straight sets (25-16, 26-24, 25-20). The Red Foxes improved to 8-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
In the first set, Marist jumped out to an early lead and didn't look back, taking the frame 25-16.
Sara Dasic led the offensive effort with five kills, while
Mallory Reck recorded three kills and six digs.
The Red Foxes trailed by as many as six points in the second set, but stormed back to take a two-set lead. Reck continued her strong play, recording eight kills and seven digs in the frame.
Caelyn Dumas dished out 14 assists to help Marist take the set, 26-24.
Marist stayed hot in the third set, winning 25-20 to complete the sweep of Iona. Reck once again led the way with seven kills and three digs. Dumas contributed nine assists and two digs.
Top Performances:
- Mallory Reck led on both sides of the ball, racking up 18 kills and 16 digs for the Red Foxes.
- Caelyn Dumas dished out 31 assists and added 13 digs.
- Cecilia Potter-Pessoa recorded 13 digs for the Red Foxes' defense.
The Red Foxes remain home to face Manhattan University on Saturday at 4 p.m ET.
