Red Foxes Draw Iona, 1-1, at Tenney Stadium

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Marist University men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Iona on Saturday evening at Tenney Stadium in a physical Metro matchup.

"Proud of the guys effort tonight," said head coach Matt Viggiano '99. "They did the work necessary to get points and if they can give me that effort every time out, we're going to get three points much more often than we just get one."

The Red Foxes move to 3-2-4 overall and 1-1-1 in Metro play, while the Gaels improve to 2-4-4 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play.

  • The two teams battled to a scoreless first half, with both sides recording seven shots.
  • Marist was forced to play a man down for the final 37 minutes after graduate student Mani Diop received his second yellow card in the 53rd minute.
