Tennis Travels to Bryant on Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist University men's and women's tennis teams travel to Smithfield, Rhode Island on Feb. 14 to take on Bryant. The men's match is set for 12:10 p.m., followed by the women's match at 4:30 p.m.
 
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes earned their first win of the spring with a 4-3 victory over Fordham.
  • Freshman Alejandro Abella Fernandez led the way with a straight-set win at No. 2 singles.
  • Sophomore Anirudh Nallaparaju followed with a strong 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 4, while junior Thomas Bevan secured a key point at No. 5 with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win.
  • Sophomore Gregor Heinemann sealed the match at No. 6 with a hard-fought 7-6 (11), 6-1 victory. In doubles, Layton and Bevan teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1.
SCOUTING BRYANT
  • The Bulldogs enter the weekend at 1-3 overall.
  • Saturday marks the fourth all-time meeting between Marist and Bryant on the men's side, with the Red Foxes holding a 2-1 advantage in the series. 
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes opened their spring season with a 4-3 win over Seton Hall, marking the program's first victory over the Pirates.
  • Marist followed with a scrimmage against Vassar College.
SCOUTING BRYANT
  • The Bulldogs are 1-3 this season.
  • The women's match will be the first-ever meeting between Marist and Bryant.
UP NEXT
  • The women travel to Army on February 21 for a 12 p.m. match, while the men head to St. Bonaventure on February 26 for a 12 p.m. start.
