BOSTON, MA. - The Marist men's track & field team returned to competition Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University inside the Track & Tennis Center.
Competing against a deep field, the Red Foxes turned in multiple personal-best and season-best performances, highlighted by strong efforts in the 800-meter run and a top-five finish in the long jump.
In the 400-meter dash, Marcel Stewart clocked a personal-best time of 51.94, continuing his steady progression during the indoor season.
The 800-meter group delivered one of the meet's biggest highlights. Miles Chamberlain led the way with a personal-best 1:54.19, executing consistent splits of 28.07, 28.44, 28.58, and 29.11. Dante Melfi added a personal-best performance of 1:58.47, winning his heat with a strong closing lap. Sean Wilson recorded a season-best 1:57.61, while Matthew Ferreri matched that time for an indoor personal best.
In the field events, Ramsey Heredia secured a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.59 meters (21 feet, 7.5 inches), marking one of Marist's top finishes of the evening.
Christopher Lynch represented the Red Foxes in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.87.
Marist will look to build on the momentum of several personal-best performances as the indoor season continues next weekend at the Last Chance Invite before the MAAC Championships.
