Haley Ahr set the Marist University softball program's all-time hits record with her 245
th on Saturday.
Ahr broke a record held by former teammate
Miah McDonald, who had broken Caroline Baratta's record this past May. In all, the program's all-time hits record has now changed hands three times in the last five seasons.
Ahr's record-breaking hit came on a single in the top of the first of Marist's second game of the day against Colgate.
Marist dropped both of its games on Saturday at the USF Invitational. The Red Foxes fell to Saint Joseph's, 7-4, in the first game before coming up short by a score of 6-1 against Colgate. Marist is now 5-8 this season.
- Saint Joseph's scored in the top of the first, but Marist took a 2-1 lead in the home half on Livia Wiltsie's two-run single.
- The Hawks tied the game in the top of the fifth, but the Red Foxes went up 3-2 in the bottom half when Samantha Rogers' RBI single brought home Annabelle Geiser.
- In the sixth, McKenna Manley's RBI single brought home Isabella Manory, which gave Marist a 4-2 advantage.
- Saint Joseph's scored five in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good.
- Ahr and Wiltsie had two hits apiece, while Geiser scored two runs.
- Colgate struck for five runs in the bottom of the third.
- Marist scored in the top of the fifth. Sienna Kunze led off the frame with a double, advanced to third on a groundout by Ava Hampton, and she scored on a groundout by Peyton Pusey.
- Colgate answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to close out the scoring.
- Ahr had two of Marist's six hits to finish with four hits on the day.
- Marist closes out play in the USF Invitational on Sunday against Indiana.
- First pitch is set for 9 a.m.
