Softball Earns Extra-Inning Win at College of Charleston

Red Foxes Go 1-1 on Season’s First Day

Box Score 1 MOUNT PLEASANT, South Carolina – The Marist University softball team split its first two games of the 2026 season on Friday.
 
In their first game of the day, the Red Foxes fell to Central Michigan by a score of 12-4 in five innings. Marist then bounced back for a 6-5 win over College of Charleston in eight innings.
 
Game One
  • Central Michigan struck first with eight runs in the top of the first.
  • Central Michigan extended its lead to 10-0 before Marist scored twice in the bottom of the third. Haley Ahr's double brought in Livia Wiltsie, and Peyton Pusey's sacrifice fly scored Annabelle Geiser.
  • The teams traded single runs in the fourth and fifth. Wiltsie's sacrifice fly brought in Isabella Manory in the fourth, and Sienna Kunze's groundout plated Pusey.
  • Samantha Rogers had a team-high two of the Red Foxes' seven hits.
  • Central Michigan's London Williams went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
 
Game Two
  • Marist jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning-and-a-half. Annabelle Geiser scored the first run on a groundout by Samantha Rogers. In the second, Maia Salvo scored on a throwing error, and Geiser's single brought home Lily Roumelis.
  • College of Charleston scored twice in the bottom of the second, and took the lead with two more in the fourth.
  • Geiser's infield single in the sixth drove in Ava Hampton and tied the score at four.
  • In the top of the eighth, Geiser's RBI double brought in Isabella Manory, and then Geiser scored on a single by Haley Ahr.
  • In the bottom of the eighth, College of Charleston scored once in the bottom of the eighth to cut its deficit to 6-5, and had runners on second and third with out. Making her first collegiate appearance, Kaylie DeChicchis recorded a strikeout and then induced a lineout to third baseman McKenna Manley to end the game and earn the save.
  • Geiser led the offense by going 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Ahr (3-for-5), Sienna Kunze (2-for-5), and Roumelis (2-for-3) also had multi-hit games as the Red Foxes finished with 13 hits.
  • Stella Blanchard went the first 7.1 innings for her first collegiate win. She allowed just two earned runs and struck out four.
  • Halle Cannon went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for College of Charleston.

  • Marist is back in action on Saturday with two games.
  • The Red Foxes will face George Mason at 11 a.m. and Charleston Southern at 4 p.m.
