Men's Lacrosse Looks to Move to 2-0 in MAAC in Saturday Match With Iona

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Marist men's lacrosse team continues its 2026 MAAC slate on Saturday, as the Red Foxes play host to Iona. The opening faceoff is set for a 7 p.m. start following Senior Day.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Marist men's lacrosse team earned a dramatic road victory on Saturday, defeating Merrimack 10–9 in overtime at Duane Stadium. The Red Foxes improved to 5-2 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play at 2-0 with the win.
  • Steven Cain delivered the game-winning goal with 1:58 remaining in overtime, finishing a pass from Collin Patrick to seal the victory for Marist after Merrimack had forced extra time in the closing seconds of regulation.
  • Cain finished with two goals including the game-winner, while Drew Anderson and Brady Dolan also scored twice each. Patrick led the team with three points on a goal and two assists, and Murray added three points with one goal and two assists.
  • At the faceoff X, Josh Smith helped control possession for the Red Foxes, winning 14 of 23 draws and collecting a team-high eight ground balls. In goal, Richie Metzger recorded nine saves to earn the win.

  • Iona comes into the contest at 1-9 overall and 1-1 in the MAAC
  • The Gaels picked up their first win of the season this past Saturday with a 16-9 victory over Manhattan
  • Cullen Lawrey leads the offense with 14 goals and nine assists for 23 points

  • Marist will be back in action on Wednesday, March 25, when the Red Foxes play host to rivals Siena inside Tenney Stadium
