POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University softball team shut out Saint Peter's in both ends of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Gartland Field.
 
The Red Foxes earned a 3-0 win in game one, and prevailed 8-0 in six innings in the second game.
 

Game One

• In the bottom of the second, Livia Wiltsie started a two-out rally with a double into the left field corner. Isabella Manory followed with an RBI single for the game's first run.
• With one out in the fourth, Samantha Rogers and Sienna Kunze belted back-to-back home runs, which closed out the scoring.
• Ava Metzger went the distance for her fourth straight win. Metzger pitched a three-hitter, struck out five, and walked just two. She allowed just one runner to reach third base, and she retired the final five batters she faced.
• Marist finished with six hits, led by Wiltsie and Manory with two apiece.
• Hannah Klotz went 2-for-2 with a walk for Saint Peter's.

 

Game Two

• Marist opened the scoring with two in the home half of the third. Annabelle Geiser led off the inning with a double, and she scored on Haley Ahr's single. Ahr later scored on Livia Wiltsie's sacrifice fly.
• The Red Foxes broke the game open with a five-run fourth.
  • Maia Salvo belted a one-out homer.
  • Samantha Rogers' two-run single scored Ahr and Peyton Pusey.
  • Wiltsie's infield single brought home Rogers.
  • Sienna Kunze came in on a wild pitch.
• Kunze's homer with one out in the sixth gave Marist the win by the mercy rule.
• Stella Blanchard went all six innings for the shutout win, her team-leading sixth of the season.
• Marist pounded out 11 hits.
  • Wiltsie was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
  • Kunze was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
  • Geiser was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
• Angela Tremarco was 2-for-3 for Saint Peter's.

• Marist has won 20 straight MAAC regular-season games.
• Marist has won its last 14 games at Gartland Field.
• Metzger has not allowed an earned run in 23.1 innings.
• In her three starts against MAAC opponents, Metzger has 23 strikeouts while allowing just eight hits, seven walks, and zero earned runs in 21 innings.
• This is the second time this season Metzger and Blanchard have pitched a double shutout. The first was March 8 against Fairfield.
• Marist has four shutouts in its seven MAAC games, and has allowed two runs or fewer six times. The Red Foxes have outscored the opposition 41-9 in conference games.
• Kunze has homered in three of her last four games.
