CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – The Marist University softball team dropped two games on Friday at the Mizuno Showdown.

In game one, Marist led in the fourth inning against #23/#25 Arizona State, but fell short by a score of 3-1. The Red Foxes then lost to North Carolina by a score of 11-0, a game which was completed in five innings due to the mercy rule.

Marist is now 15-15 this season.

- Marist opened the scoring in the top of the fourth. Livia Wiltsie singled with one out, and she scored two batters later on a single by Lily Roumelis.
- Arizona State tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on a homer by Ashleigh Mejia.
- The Sun Devils took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with Yannixa Acuna scored on a fielder's choice. They added another run in the sixth on a homer by Kaylee Pond.
- Ava Metzger went the distance in the circle for Marist. She allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out four. She needed only 77 pitches to get through six innings.
- Marist outhit Arizona State, 5-3. Peyton Pusey had a triple, while Wiltsie, Roumelis, Haley Ahr, and Isabella Manory all had singles.

- North Carolina scored four in the bottom of the second on a three-run homer by Rayna Blackwell and a solo homer from Sanaa Thompson.
- The Tar Heels added five in the third, and they scored two unearned runs in the fourth.
- Sienna Kunze reached safely twice with a single and a walk.
- Stella Blanchard went the first 2.2 innings and had four strikeouts. Emma Bayor did not allow an earned run in 1.1 innings of relief.
- Carly Maxton pitched a one-hitter for North Carolina with four strikeouts.
