RALEIGH, N.C. – The Marist men's and women's track & field teams delivered a series of standout performances at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State on March 27-28, highlighted by a record-breaking sprint from Amari Mathis and multiple personal-best efforts across the weekend.
Mathis headlined the meet for the Red Foxes with a historic performance in the 100-meter dash. The senior crossed the line in a wind-legal 10.36, setting a new school record while finishing fourth overall in a loaded field of 102 competitors. Among collegiate athletes, Mathis placed third, solidifying his position as one of the top sprinters in the region.
He returned to the track in the 200-meter dash, where he placed 30th with a time of 21.51 in another deep field of over 100 runners.
In the 400-meter dash, Ryan Trocolar turned in one of the top performances of his career. He clocked an outdoor personal-best time of 48.47, finishing 50th out of 126 competitors. Trocolar's time came just 0.03 seconds shy of the Marist school record, signaling a strong start to his outdoor campaign.
Miracle Okoli posted a season-best performance in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 28th in 55.31 against a competitive field. On the women's side, Julianna Mirabile recorded a personal-best time of 1:02.31 in the 400-meter hurdles, placing 30th and continuing her steady progression this season.
Marist will look to build on these performances as the outdoor season continues.
