Joe Ausanio Earns 500th Career Win as Red Foxes Top Rider

Marist Pounds Out 14 Hits in Comeback Victory

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist University head softball coach Joe Ausanio earned his 500th career victory on Sunday, as the Red Foxes earned a 7-6 comeback victory over Rider at Gartland Field.


 
Summary
  • Rider scored twice in the top of the first, an inning that included three Marist errors.
  • Marist tied the game in the bottom of the second. Sienna Kunze led off the inning with a single during an eight-pitch at bat, and she scored on Peyton Pusey's sacrifice fly. Haley Ahr then beat out an infield single, which scored pinch-runner Ava Hampton to tie the game.
  • Fallyn Stoecker's RBI double and Kiersten Buchanan's RBI single gave Rider a 4-2 lead in the third.
  • Livia Wiltsie and Kunze hit back-to-back opposite field home runs to open the bottom of the third, which tied the game.
  • Rider took a 6-4 lead in the fifth on a passed ball and an error.

  • Ava Metzger (7-3) pitched four scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. She allowed just one hit.
  • Rider's 1-2 hitters, Aspen Wheeler and Keegan St. Cyr, went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
