POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist University men's tennis team earned a 4-3 victory over Rider on Senior Day to secure the outright MAAC regular season title. The Red Foxes extend their winning streak to eight matches and finish the regular season unbeaten in conference play.

Marist opened the match with a strong performance in doubles, sweeping all three courts to secure the point. Senior Nick Suhanitski and junior Thomas Bevan earned a 6-4 win at No. 1, while sophomore Ian Layton and sophomore Gregor Heinemann followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 2. Sophomore Fateh Singh and graduate student Jose Catala completed the sweep with a 7-5 win at No. 3.

In singles play, Marist earned three victories to clinch the match. Layton delivered a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2, while freshman Alejandro Abella Fernandez was leading 6-0, 4-1 before his opponent retired at No. 3. Sophomore Anirudh Nallaparaju secured a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4 to clinch the team win.

Rider earned points at No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. Catala fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, while graduate student Dante Despontin dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 5. Suhanitski was edged in three sets at No. 6, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4.
