POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Red Fox River Rumble lived up to its name in a big way, as the Marist women's track & field team delivered a dominant and record-setting performance across two days of competition at the Track at Gartland Commons and Vassar College.
Marist piled up nine first-place finishes, three school records, and a long list of personal-best performances in what amounted to one of the program's most complete meets of the season.
Saturday's action was headlined by a pair of standout sprint performances from Gabrielle Bozeth and Alicia Ramos. Bozeth electrified the home crowd in the 100-meter dash, crossing in 12.04 to break the school record set just three weeks prior by Alexandra Samperi. Not long after, Ramos rewrote the record book in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a 14.59 to surpass a mark that had stood since 2007.
Julia Kropo turned in a sensational double on the track, capturing first place in both the 200-meter (25.47) and 400-meter (57.83) dashes. Her versatility extended beyond the oval as well, as she added a second-place finish in the javelin during Friday's throws competition.
The Red Foxes showed impressive depth in the sprints, sweeping the top four spots in the 200-meter dash behind Kropo, with Makenzy Nielsen, Ramos, and Stephania Granados finishing second through fourth. Nielsen also added a third-place finish and personal best in the 100-meter dash.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Julianna Mirabile secured another victory for Marist with a personal-best time of 1:01.78, while Isabella Milojevic added a third-place finish with a personal best of her own.
Relay teams continued the momentum, with Marist A capturing first in both the 4x100-meter relay (47.82) and 4x400-meter relay (3:57.40), showcasing the team's depth and cohesion across sprint groups.
In the field, Alexandra Samperi led a 1-2 finish in the long jump with a winning leap of 5.51 meters, while Emma Murphy placed second. Olivia Rothstein added a runner-up finish in the triple jump.
Friday's throws competition at Vassar set the tone early. Jenna Borselle claimed first in the shot put, while Kelly Ballen broke the school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 30.17 meters. Ballen also recorded a personal best in the discus, highlighting a strong all-around showing in the throws group.
Distance events saw strong performances as well, with Nora White finishing second in the 5,000 meters and multiple athletes recording personal and season bests in the 800 and 1,500 meters.
From sprints to distance to throws, the Red Foxes put together a complete team effort, combining record-breaking performances with depth across every event group in the inaugural edition of the Red Fox River Rumble.
