Red Foxes Rack Up All-MAAC Accolades

20 Red Foxes Earn All-Academic Prestige

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The MAAC men's lacrosse awards were released on Tuesday. Marist featured five different players earning All-MAAC honors, with 20 student-athletes getting recognized for the All-MAAC Academic Team.

Long Stick Midfielder of the Year
  • Michael Cassano won the MAAC Long Stick Midfielder of the Year award for the second consecutive season
- Cassano totaled two goals and an assists for three points on the season. 
- He also recorded 35 groundballs and 19 caused turnovers on the campaign.
 
All-MAAC First Team - Patrick leads Marist in points [45], while taking second in goals [29], and assists (16)
- The junior is tied for fourth in the MAAC in points per game [3.46] and sixth in assists per game [1.12].
  • Sean Mullan earned All-MAAC First Team recognition as an attacker.
- Mullan leads Marist in goals [30], while taking third in points [40]
- Mullan is sixth in the MAAC in goals per game [2.31] and 10th in points per game [3.08]. - McCaffrey leads the MAAC and ranks 24th in the nation in caused turnovers [24]
- His 1.85 caused turnovers per game leads the MAAC and ranks 21st in the nation
 
Second Team
  • Michael Cassanno notched All-MAAC Second Team recognition as a long stick midfielder.
- Cassano totaled two goals and an assists for three points on the season. 
- He also recorded 35 groundballs and 19 caused turnovers on the campaign.
 
Rookie
  • Richie Metzger was a unanimous selection to the MAAC All-Rookie Team as a goalie.
- Metzger went 9-3 in net this season
- He holds a .514 save percentage while allowing 10.78 goals per game.
- Totaled 133 saves on the season
- The freshman notched his collegiate-high of 16 saves in a win against Canisius

 
MAAC All-Academic

20 student-athletes received a spot on the MAAC All-Academic team. Student-athletes must complete two semesters at their institution while holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher
